Fading Glory

My past is buried deep in the creases of my being
Beneath the rolls and puff of my core is an athlete
A fitness instructor now a student
A distance runner now a sporadic sport
A triathlete now afloat
A skier who has gone adrift

My past enslaves me to the present but my heart remains where the skill is gone

The Present

why does it take finality for us to appreciate that which has been there
that which has been
waiting for a crack of the window
to offer a soothing breeze
it should not take a flight across the world to see the sunshine above us
or feel the velocity of the wind
presence is all that is required to feel the presents

Out Standing at Standing Out

When we seek commonality
we gain a false sense of security, confirmation, partiality
and when we land on the outside looking in,
we may feel small, insignificant, undesirable
but it is the strength of individuality that spawns a new avenue
our uniqueness may originate as a single oddity
but ultimately distinguishes us as out~standing

A Peace of Heart

guilt is not equipped to foster sincerity
it is a product of anger and resentment
which can not swaddle the cries of discord
the only salve is a big heart
large enough to break away
and offer a peace
weakening oneself
to strengthen another

Slap and Crumble

And with a slap
reality hits, shock is felt
the sting lingers
Tears delivered
watering thoughts
propagating pensivity
where change ensues
Growth is birthed
where faith supports the down beat
belief brings forth the upbeat
and the heart beats on

Keeping us steady
as our world crumbles

Spider Web

Regret is a web that traps our happiness
keeping us ensnared in the shortcomings of our past
Don't fall victim to the spiral maze
It's sticky structure leaves us struggling to free ourselves from that which can not be undone

Destroying the tangle is far more difficult than dismissing the skein altogether
Don't  let the spider suck the life out of you

Beach Blossom

Our dearest Kerrin,

Where can we begin?  You are an inspiration to us every day.  You are self motivated and driven beyond compare. We admire your strong will to succeed and your faith and belief. We never doubt that you will find a way to make things happen, not only for yourself but for others. You are caring, compassionate and loving and we could not be prouder of you.  You have grown into an amazing young women who draws people toward you with your sharp wit and caring heart.  You have a beautiful outlook on life.  You are my little baby cake, and Grammie's cherry blossom, but if I were to liken you to something, it would have to be an attraction that is both energetic and fun and equally peaceful and inspiring.  You are my:

Beach Blossom

You are
As bright as the sunniest day
As clear as a cloudless sky
As gentle as the calmest wave
and
as strong as a rogue rip-tide
You are
As deep as the ocean's floor
As steady as the rhythmic tides
As soft as the sandy shore
and
always a welcome surprise

We love you more than you could ever imagine.  You make life better just by being you!!!!!

All our love,
Mom & Chief
